October Halfterm Review
Safe to Go Stow, Halfterm activity
What an amazing October half-term full of sports, crafts, and activities! We had something for everyone during the October half-term in Harlow, with events taking place across multiple venues throughout the town. We collaborated with Harlow Creates, delivering multi-sports activities alongside talented artists from Harlow Creates in The Stow and Bush Fair. Our programme included a wide range of taster sports activities such as golf, basketball, darts, cricket, boxing, hockey, football, and American football, all offered completely free for the community to enjoy!
Bush Fair, Boxing and Art
The energy and enthusiasm from participants of all ages were truly infectious, with families coming together to try new activities and make lasting memories. The multi-sports sessions were particularly popular, providing a fantastic opportunity for children to develop new skills and build confidence in a supportive, fun environment. Meanwhile, the crafts workshops hosted by local artists allowed everyone to unleash their creativity, producing unique art pieces inspired by the season.
Additionally, we partnered with Laser Tag Harlow to provide an immersive indoor experience, which featured a challenging maze for gameplay at Passmores Academy. The excitement was palpable as teams navigated the twists and turns, working together to achieve victory. We also hosted a forest activities day camp at Kingsmoor Academy, where participants explored the woods to find sticks and logs, which they used to build a base for our laser tag forest games. The natural setting encouraged teamwork and problem-solving, and many children shared that it was their favourite part of the week.

During the day, we crafted toys from sticks and string and learned the basics of archery. The hands-on sessions were a brilliant way to inspire curiosity about the outdoors and teach practical skills. Despite the rain, the weather didn’t dampen our spirits—in fact, it enhanced the fun and excitement of the day. Splashing through puddles added a touch of adventure, and everyone left with rosy cheeks and big smiles.
This event was a wonderful opportunity to support wellbeing, encourage outdoor play, and bring back childhood memories, reminding us all of the joy beyond technology and screen time. We are grateful to all our partners, volunteers, and families who made the October half-term so special. We’re already looking forward to planning our next set of community events – watch this space for more details!
